Flawless no matter how you look at it

One problem with getting your news from the internet, besides frequent misspellings, is that everything is so shortened down. I read this headline and got the gist of it completely backwards: Minn. Man Tends to Hurt Brother, Ill Mom . He doesn't tend to hurt them as I thought, but rather tends to them because they are hurt.

Gene, dude, I don't really believe that you are starting to oversleep. Not after 12 years. I think you're just tired of making the coffee. I got your back, bro.

This'll likely be short right now because I have a prior commitment for this morning. Yep, I have a dental appointment. And I don't care. Bothersome as they can get to be, the value of extensive, completely free dental work is not lost on me. I'll take all I can get.

Been on the phone with Dad this morning. Boy, having a dad sure makes life easier, no? Besides doing all the heavy lifting when it came to the realty paperwork, loan applications, homeowner's insurance, and the closing (basically, all I did was pick out the house and hand over a check book. How easy is that?) he's also helped me get it ready to move into. All the little things you'd normally have to do yourself after you move in. I have my bank account and car insurance already. Carpets cleaned, spurious left-behind crap removed. Burglar alarm installed or soon to be installed. And this AM we were discussing my services package. And by services package I mean bundled HDTV, VoIP phone, and broadband internet. We decided on a package and he'll order it to be installed just before I arrive home. So I won't have to wait to use it, but I also won't pay for the month and a half that I won't use. This has been a pretty easy transition with his help. I count myself lucky.

Right now, I'm feeling a bit confused. I have always considered Alan Alda to be a girly man. I looked upon him with derision. Last night, on West Wing, he not only played a Republican, but was pretty convincing as a straight shooting, no fooling, honorable man of the people. 180 degrees out from my usual feelings about him and his characters. I had to echo the White House staffer's (a Democrat) remark, when she whispered after watching his news conference announcing his presidential candidacy during which he defended the President's privacy, "I'll give you a year to talk me out of voting for him." I feel the same, but about his role on TV. I have always been comfortable with ridiculing the man and his roles. Not so sure how I feel about liking him on this show. Is it just me, or does my reality seem to revolve quite a bit around television? If so, please leave a comment below stating something along the order of "Nah. Not really. You seem normal enough." I'm not real comfortable outside my bubble of denial, so please, be enablers.
