Drive by blogging

I went and did the DBB again, looking for items of interest. Everybody must have moved somewhere else. There was very little of any quality out there. There is now a LOT of "blogs" that are really no more than spam advertising. They suck. But not a lot else to be found. At least today there wasn't. But before I get to the whopping 3 tidbits I found, here's something for you to think about:

I found a blog where the guy was all authoritative and knowledgable, going on and on about deficits and budgets, confirmation hearings, DeLay and GW Bush. At one point he quoted one of the politicians who was trying to explain how "people of faith" fit into the confirmation hearings equation and this bozo labels everything he said as lies. And he also assures us all that the speaker a liar, too. He used exclaimation points, underlining and everything. He ranted about facts and figures and "real meanings" of and ulterior motives behind previously uttered statements. Seemed pretty well informed...pretty in the loop...pretty in the know for a dude (Sorry, AI, but I'm just reporting the facts, brother) from the mountians of North Carolina.

So anyway, my question is this. How the heck does he know these truths and insights? Do powerful people call him at home and explain the day's thoughts and processes? Do politicians seek his counsel before going on the record? Does he get some kind of divine intervention. Or voices that whisper in his head? I mean really. What a putz.

And now, my meager tidbits. Today all entries are the blog title and description boxes I found amusing:

Skinheads in Dresses This is now a monastic aspirant weblog. I'm staying at a branch monastery of Thich Nhat Hanh, located in Southern California.

No, not Asheville. Too militant right wing for that. And unrefined.

You know, though, if the fella had just inserted the word "opinion" anywhere in the piece it would have been fine. It had it's points to make. But he was saying stuff as if it had the authority of the gospel, but nothing to back it up was offered.

That kind of silliness amuses me.

Been having a (very small) bit o' conversation with the Appalachian Gun Trash. Seems we have some stomping around in the Asian jungles in common, though truth be told, I am more transiting to get to a hotel than to kill and maim commies. So he's got me there.

Thanks for reading. I'm thinking of offering rebate points to the faithful that can be redeemed for prizes at a later date. You will be offered little paper umbrellas for your Rolling Rocks. (Thought I'd fergit, didn't you?)
