A leming in sheep's clothing

What can I say? I fellt compelled to share this silliness.

ISTANBUL, Turkey — First one sheep jumped to its
death.

Then stunned Turkish shepherds, who had left the herd to graze while they had breakfast, watched as nearly 1,500 others followed, each leaping off the same cliff, Turkish media reported.

In the end, 450 dead animals lay on top of one another in a billowy white pile, the Aksam newspaper said. Those who jumped later were saved as the pile got higher and the fall more cushioned, Aksam reported.

"There's nothing we can do. They're all wasted," Nevzat Bayhan,a member of one of 26 families whose sheep were grazing together in the herd, was quoted as saying by Aksam.

Because they are pre-shrunk. At least that's my understanding.

I think the real question here is why don't they get any smarter as they grow up?

Did you know that, as a rule, even lemmings don't exhibit the behavior we stereotypically credit them with? Nope. They normally don't go in for mass drownings and leaping off of cliffs except in extremely rare cases such as when they congregate a little too near a Backstreet Boys concert. The screaming teenyboppers fritzes up their brains some.

Have you ever wondered what sheep count when they can't sleep? I've stayed up many a night pondering that one.

I always thought that sheep would just count their many blessings.

1. I'm a sheep
2. I like to eat grass
3. There's plenty of grass
4. It's mighty tasty grass
5. Hey, there's more grass over there
6. I like grass
7. ZZzzzzzzzzz....

Yes, but wouldn't they end up malnourished?
