And Something of mine

seven sentences 3:41

i took a thousand words, wrote seven sentences
spelled out in ashen gray with smoke like nimbleness
i took a thousand days, drew seven images
but, they must fade away, when one diminishes

it took a thousand flames, to burn one memory,
and i don’t know who called your name, or what came over me
i took a thousand scars and bled invisibly
i took a thousand words, wrote seven sentences

i wrote, i love you
and i probably always will
i’m thinking of you
when the night is black and still
all of the dreams we had
could never become real,
because all the dreams we had,
you killed
with those seven sentences

i took a thousand trips, down those disappearing rails
i took one too many steps, down loves twisting trails
i cried a thousand tears, no one was listening
formed up in silent streams, my cheekbones glistening

i had a thousand dreams, in those fourteen restless nights
all in different shades of dark and shades of missing light
i called a thousand times the shards of silence fell,
lay on the floor i smiled i understand too well

i committed the crime of love, served seven sentences
i watched them all fade away through my lack of tenderness
i took a thousand days to draw these seven images
but they must fade away, when one diminishes
